Whether Reading The Qurʾān From A Mobile Phone Takes The Ruling of Reading From The Muṣḥaf | Shaykh Ṣāliḥ Al-Fawzān

The Questioner: Good, O Shaykh as a follow up to that question, Reading [Qurʾān] from a mobile phone, does this require ablution (wuḍūʾ)?

Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān: “It does not require ablution (wuḍūʾ) because it is not a physical Qurʾān (Muṣḥaf) and thus it does not take the rulings of the physical Qurʾān (Muṣḥaf). So it is similar to reciting from memory. It is lawful for the one who has experienced the lesser form of ritual impurity. As for the one who has experienced the greater ritual impurity, then he should not read the Qurʾān. Not from the physical Qurʾān (Muṣḥaf), nor from the mobile phone nor from memory until an individual has purified himself.”
