What Have We Done For Ourselves During This Month Of Ramaḍān? | Shaykh Ṣāliḥ Al-Fawzān
Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān: “O Muslims, this is the month that has ended or come close to ending. So let us evaluate ourselves regarding it. What have we done? What have we done for ourselves during this great month?
Whoever was doing good then let him praise Allāh and complete it upon goodness. And whoever was negligent then let him make up for it through repentance since certainly Allāh accepts repentance from His servants and pardons sins.
And do not despair from the mercy of Allāh. ‘Certainly, none despair of Allāh’s mercy except a disbelieving people.’ [Sūrah Yūsuf 12:87] Whoever is doing good or falling short then let him do well in the end since truly the actions are decided by how they are concluded.
Then you should be afraid and truly fear that your actions will not be accepted from you. Because Allāh the Mighty and Majestic says: ‘Certainly, Allāh only accepts from those who are mindful of Him.’ [Sūrah al-Māʾidah 5:27]
So consider yourselves and your intentions and objectives. And none of you should be amazed by his own deeds nor should anyone think that they have done what was obligatory upon them or that they fulfilled the right of Allāh upon them. Rather, an individual should see himself as falling short and he should think of himself as neglectful. And he should break down before His Lord the Mighty and Majestic.
Some of the Salaf would say had they known that Allāh had accepted from me the weight of a mustard seed I would have hoped for death. And that was due to the intensity of their fear of Allāh the Glorified and Exalted.”
