The One Who Becomes Muslim During The Daylight Hours Of Ramaḍān | Shaykh Muḥammad ibn Ṣāliḥ al-ʿUthaymīn

The Questioner: The disbeliever who becomes Muslim during the day in Ramaḍān; is he told to make up that day [of fasting] or not?

Shaykh Muḥammad ibn Ṣāliḥ al-ʿUthaymīn: “When a disbeliever becomes Muslim during the day in Ramaḍān, it is obligatory for him to observe restraint [for the remainder of the day] but it is not obligatory upon him to make up that day.

Because in the beginning of the day he wasn’t required to fast; so it is obligatory for him to observe restraint [for the remainder of the day] and it is not obligatory upon him to make up that day. Because he was not initially from those who were bound by the obligation.”
