[Video]: The Claim That Shaykh Muḥammad Ibn ʿAbdul-Wahhāb Rebelled Against The Ottoman Empire | Shaykh Muḥammad Ibn Hādī Al-Madkhalī
The Questioner: The question for you now, Shaykh Muḥammad ibn Hādī, this question states that some say that Imām Muḥammad ibn ʿAbdul-Wahhāb rebelled against the Ottoman empire so what is your response to this assertion?
Shaykh Muḥammad ibn Hādī al-Madkhalī: “This is a lie. It is known by way of history as I said before when narrators begin to use lies then we will use history against them. The region of Najd was not under any authority of the Ottoman Empire. Rather it existed as a series of emirates in different cities which would keep each other in check. kill one another and capture one another.
They all possessed a significant amount of ignorance concerning the religion of Allāh and committing associationism (shirk) with Allāh the Glorified and Exalted. And the Ottoman Empire did not see any benefit in the lands of Najd so it left them alone.
So then the Imām –may Allāh have mercy upon him- emerged when he witnessed what he witnessed in the lands of Najd and from its people, he established a call to Allāh the Blessed and Exalted and then after a short while from the establishment of his call, Allāh the Glorified and Exalted prepared for him someone who would aid him in Imām Muḥammad ibn Saʿūd –and may Allāh have mercy upon them both-.
And they did not fight anyone initially of their own will as was mentioned by Shaykh al-Islām –may Allāh have mercy upon him- and his students and likewise the Imāms from the family of Saʿūd at that time and may Allāh have mercy upon all of them.
And they did not initiate any fighting with anyone until some of them were killed at which point they fought to defend themselves and their own rights. So the people of falsehood and those who were promised things from the Ottoman Empire from the people of the region of al-Aḥsāʾ desired to fight this Shaykh and this Amīr who aided him both of whom Allāh the Mighty and Majestic aided because they both stood up to aid the religion of Allāh and called for Islāmic monotheism (tawḥīd).
This was established with knowledge and clarification and this was established with sword and spear. So they along with their children sacrificed for the sake of this. And Allāh the Mighty and Majestic aided them both.
Then once the Ottoman Empire promised the one who would stand with them or stand for them in al-Aḥsāʾand prepare it to fight them; once this occurred, they fought them in defense of their own lives and rights. In light of this, the lands of Najd were never subservient to them such that it could be said that Imām Muḥammad ibn ʿAbdul-Wahhāb rebelled. Glory be to Allāh!
How could they say that Imām Muḥammad ibn ʿAbdul-Wahhāb –may the mercy of Allāh the Exalted be upon him-, this esteemed and revered Imām was a Kharijite traversing upon the path of the Khawārij while these magnificent written works of his, all of them refer back to the principle of compliance and obedience to the leaders and they call for implementing their commands and embracing their directives.
How could this be said about him –may Allāh have mercy upon him-? These books of his bear witness to what he himself has explicitly stated which only invalidates this claim that they make. However, for the one whose desires have made them blind, then there is nothing you can do for them. And we ask Allāh for wellness and safety.”
