Ruling On Menstruating Woman Attending Lectures In The Mosque (Prayer Area) | Shaykh Muḥammad ibn Ṣāliḥ al-ʿUthaymīn
The Questioner: Is it permissible for a menstruating woman to attend beneficial lectures in order to learn in the Mosque if she can ensure that she is protected against impurity and if she performs ablution in order to lessen the state of ritual impurity with knowledge that the period of menstruation differs from one woman to another and perhaps it might cause her to lose out on much good?
Shaykh Muḥammad ibn Ṣāliḥ al-ʿUthaymīn: “It is not lawful for the woman who is menstruating to remain in the Mosque while she is menstruating regardless of whether she is listening to a lesson or other than this.
And in our time, there is no need for her to remain in the Mosque because there are microphones, all praise is due to Allāh, that magnify the voice of the speaker so that it reaches very far distances. So she may sit near the door and listen to whatever she wills. But as for her entering into the Mosque [prayer area] and remaining in it, then that is unlawful for the menstruating woman.”
