Regarding The Doubt Used To Defend Callers To Evil: “The Flesh Of Scholars Is Poisonous” | Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān
The Questioner: May Allāh bless you with good. This question has been submitted repeatedly the gist of it is as follows; it states that whenever we criticize some of the callers to evil in order to clarify their falsehood, and whenever we mention the texts of the Islāmic legislation in refutation of the falsehood of their statements, they respond to us with the statement that the flesh of the scholars is poisonous [meaning it is extremely unlawful to backbite them] and that any speech in criticism of them is considered backbiting?
Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān: “Clarifying the truth is obligatory and clarifying mistakes is obligatory and this is not considered eating the flesh of the scholars. Rather, this is considered clarifying the truth and sincere advice but it should not be considered eating the flesh of the scholars. You are not speaking about them as individuals but instead you are speaking out regarding their errors and clarifying the truth regarding them. Yes.”
