On Sitting With People of Religious Innovation | Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-Luḥaydān
Shaykh Ṣāliḥ Al-Luḥaydān On Sitting With People Of Religious Innovation:
The Questioner: [The questioner] says, my friend sits with the people of religious innovation (ahl al-bidʿa) and he defends them. And I have already advised him, so is it appropriate for me to boycott him so that he might be rebuked and for how long should he be boycotted?
Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-Luḥaydān: “This friend; if he continues to sit with the people of religious innovation (ahl al-bidʿa) and is friendly with them, then it is not lawful for you to consider him a friend. For certainly, ‘The example of a righteous companion and an evil companion is like the one who handles perfumes and the one who works with bellows [a blacksmith]…’
So it is more befitting that either he leaves off sitting with the people of religious innovation (ahl al-bidʿa) and misguidance or that you to separate yourself from him. Yes.”
